In the first half Josh King was fouled but was receiving treatment off the pitchThe ball went out of play accidentally hitting King but everyone but the officials failed to spot that King being off the pitch must have meant the ball was out of play. The game continued briefly before Wade Elliott decided to rugby tackle Billy Jones to the ground before kicking out at him. The result incredibly was a yellow for both players despite Elliott being the guilty party.
This then effected Jones later in the second half with less than ten minutes remaining. Preston were cruising - Burnley were second best but ones slighlty slow to take a throw in was shown a second yellow unbelieveably - even keeper Jensen found it hard to believe as he asked Jones why he was departing as he walked to the dressing room.
All in all Burnley were a poor outifit. Preston are poor defensively and gave Iwelumo time to head home to put Burnley in the lead from a corner. Preston then dominated for the majority. Adam Barton equalised although he may have controlled with hisarm but a posesses Kevin Treacy fired a left foot shot to put North End in the lead before the break.
Preston then had Matty James injured along with King as Burnley were up to their old tricks. Preston broke with Treacy and a fine ball in the box saw Parkin convert. The game then changed thanks to the referee in the final ten and with Russell playing right back and Preston void of the two United stars it was always going to be difficult.
Iwelumo who likes playing against Preston scored two headers before Rodriguez clinched a winner atthe death. No doubt on a different day Burnley would have played better and Preston would have had the major refereeing decisions but that's football.
