North End secured a vital away win at Coventry thanks to a goal from Riis who came off the bench to score Preston's second league goal of the season. This was after it was confirmed that last season's top scorer would be staying at the club for the immediate future.
Transfer deadline day then went by with a whimper as Preston failed to make any new additions to their squad despite desperately needing another striker and a risht wing back.
The only real point of note was that Harrop's contract was terminated after it seemed that Preston were unable to offload him to another club. This does free up squad space.
Preston then fell to defeat at home to Birmingham whereby they conceded their first league goal of the season. A lapse in concentration allowed Maxime to nod home a cross from barely two yards out at the back post.
It is hard to criticise the defence after such a sterling start to the season and attention is very much focused on the other end of the field. Preston created chances early on but Parrott and Riis couldn't find the net.
The referee was poor and Preston were dumbfoudned when Parrott was pulled down in the box but no penalty was awarded. In reality the killer touch was lacking and it is now a worrying trend as Preston have only notched two goals.
If Preston continue to fluff their lines in front of goal then serious questions will be asked as to why no additional strikers were brought in ahead of the transfer deadline.
