This set of games was always going to be tough with Preston facing the top four teams in the space of two weeks at teh end of October. Changes were likely but Grayson deployed a 4-4-2 formation with Gallagher and Pringle recalled ont he wings in an attacking move.
North End went ahead early int hegame. Gallagher playing on the right whipped in a ball from the right for former Huddersfield player Clarke to head home.
Not long after a similar delivery from the right saw Baptiste head home to double the lead. The visitors try to play a passing game from the back but they were vulnerable from set pieces and crosses due to the quality of Gallagher.
Huddersfield tried to come back into the game after the break but Maxwell had a steady game in goal and is looking an assured number one with every game that he plays.
Gallagher added Preston's third from a free kick that was whipped in an evaded everyone to end up in the bottom corner. The game was effectively over but the visitors got a later consolation after some head tennis in the Preston box ended up with Wells nodding home.
Preston have shot up to 13th in the table but more importantly have moved clear of the bottom three in terms of points. They travel to Norwich on Saturday hoping to keep up the recent good run of form.
