Hayhurst had risen through the ranks at Deepdale after being with the club since a youngster. He impressed when Grayson took over scoring in his first three games but since then he has been in and out of the squad spending the second half of last season on loan.
The winger has never been able to nail down a place falling behind Homes at first and latterly Reid, Robinson and Gallagher who have all occupied the left wing slot. Hayhurst felt he needed first team football and was allowed to leave to join Notts County.
