Henderson was as surprised as anyone to receive the call up by Trappatoni after 18 months in the international wilderness in which time he has not played a game for Preston.
Henderson joined Preston as an international keeper and kept the jersey before a career threatening back injury put him out for over a year. He has made a slow recovery but towards the end of last season played 14 games on loan at League Two side Grimsby.
Henderson will be back at Deepdale next season challenging for the number one spot although rumours are rife that he maybe handed a jersey if current number one Andy Lonergan completes a rumoured move to neighbours Blackburn Rovers.
Henderson joins up with fellow North Enders, St Ledger and Nolan who are also in the squad to face Bulgaria.
