As Roy Keane culled much of his squad today for the start of pre-season, Ross Wallace became the latest name to be linked with a move to Deepdale.
The link was bound to be made as Wallace plays on the left of midfield which is a position Irvine has openly admitted he needs to strengthen. Wallace originally came from Celtic and is Scottish meaning that he is bound to be linked with Scottish boss, Irvine.
Wallace has played over 50 times for Sunderland, the last being in a one nil defeat to Arsenal last season. He was out injured for much of the last campaign and put on the transfer list but has been kept on despite Keane releasing a whole host of players including Andy Cole.
