There was very few surprises amongst the seven players who have been released at the end of their contracts. Neil Kilkenny was the main player to feature this season who has been released.
The were rumours in January that he may join League One Barnsley but nothing materialised and with Grayson opting for a younger look in midfield by signing Pearson and Grimshaw, the experienced pro was always likely to be leaving in the summer.
Kyel Reid who has been a disastrous signing for grayson has also been released. He signed, injured, on a two year deal from Bradford. Wen he got fit he rarely played before being loaned back to Bradford this season.
Chris Kirkland was on a one year deal and I think Saturday's game at Leeds cionfirmed that even as a back up Preston need somebody else. Andy Little, another poor signing who rarely played has been released along with youngsters Heaton, Ryan and Anderton.
It is unsurprising that the youngsters have been released as Grayson openly stated recently that he did not think they were good enough to fill the last substitute's slot.
The only remaining issue is with Kosh Brownhill. He has been offered a new two year deal as he is out of contract this summer. He is currently on loan at Barnsley who are in the Leafue One play offs. It is unclear if the midfielder will sign a deal as he has other offers on the table.
