It was always going to be a tough task for Preston when playing Arsenal in the FA Cup Third Round. Grayson put out an attacking side with McGeady and Gallagher out wide. Huhhill and Robinson played up top.

Preston started the faster and had the better of the first thirty minutes. Unfortunately, North End were not clinical enough against an Arsenal side which were always going to come back into the same.

Wenger made changes but the Arsenal team contained many international players but they weren't ready for the Preston onslaught at the start of the game.

The home side took the lead when McGeady created a chance after some good skill in midfield. Hughill and Robinson combined with the latter slotting home to give Preston the lead.

There were further chances for Preston. Hghill and Robinson should have put Preston two up but a heavily weighted pass meant a tap in was not possible. There was also a goal ruled out for a foul by Huntington on Ospina.

Aresnal levelled shorly after the break as Ramsey shot from the edge of the box. Maxell had no chance and within a moment the game had changed.

The visitors pressed but only found a winner late on when Perez backheeled to Giroud who managed to force the ball home under pressure to give Arsenal the win.
