Hugill handed in a transfer equest in the summer but Preston were unwilling to let the striker go despitean £8 million bid from Reading. Leeds, Wolves and Ipswich had all shown an interest with the latter making two bids in excess of £2m in the last window.
During this window Leeds had shown an interest but before the Forest game it appeaed that Crstal Palace had entered the race. A bid was apparently rejected by Preston from Palace who then turned their attention elsewhere.
Ex-boss David Moyes then made a deadline day swoop and Hugill went for a medical. The fee is believed to be in the region of £10 million pounds. It is unclear if Preston have any replacements lined up.
