North End marched into a commanding lead inside the first ten minutes thanks to goals from Mellor and Hume. Preston have been fairly tight on most occassions but when they do conced they let in a whole host of goals.
Within five minutes of being two up Preston were pegged nack level as old boy (is he still classed as a boy?) Gareth Ainsworth scored before a penalty was awarded for Wycombe converted by Donnelly.
Preston were then down before the half hour mark as Beavon completed an astonishing turnaround to put Wycombe in the lead in what was an astonishing half an hour.
The Whites kept the fait as Hume scored his second just after the hour mark and then Mellor gave Preston the lead with quarter of an hour remaining.
It is the second time this season that Preston have won 4-3 and this game confirmed a seven game winning streak in the league which takes them closer to Charlton in top spot who could only draw at MK Dons. The Whites still have a game in hand on the leaders.
