North End travelled to Bamber Bridge in the annual pre-season fixture. New boss Alex Neil watched from the stands as Preston put seven past the non-league team without reply.
Steve Thompson took charge of team affairs as the majority of the squad got a run out with two teams taking the field for each half. The only concern for the night was Declan Rudd who exited early in the first half due to injury but it is hoped it is nothing serious.
For the record the returning Ben Davies, May and Robinson gave Preston a three goal lead at the break. Barkhuizen, a brace from Hugill and one from youngster Meulensteen meant a 7-0 scoreline to the visitors.
North End now head to Ireland for five days before returning to play Stockport on Saturday. Neil will now try to put across his ideas to the squad as he builds for the new season. It is thought that Sean Maguire will meet with the squad whilst the club stay in Ireland.
