McGeady Magic Earns Three Points

Brentford had become a bogey team for Preston and the Whites had a point to prove after collapsing in the final 20 minutes at Griffin Park in Septermber as they lost 5-0.

Gallagher was out injured so Horgan was given a start on the wing. Browne played alongside Pearson in the middle whilst Browning started his first home game at right back.

The visitors started the stronger and Preston have to overcome this issue of starting slowly. The goal was straight forward and sloppy from Preston. Field was left unmarked to run through the box to head home freely from a corner.

It seemed like it was going to be another one of those days until McGeady went on a run towards the edge of the box before pulling the trigger with his left foot and curling in a magnificent effort.

Preston took the initiative and the game turned after the break. A ball was played into the box and Robinson was unmarked. He looked offisde but managed to flick the ball past the keeper.

The game then became open. Both teams look as if they will end up in midtable and therefore it became a much more care free game with intent from both sides.

McGeady bagged his second which was another effort from range but this time with his righ foot. It was a peach of an effort and McGeady was running the gam with his skill.

There were numerous missed chances from Preston, Hughill, Robinson and substitute May mised a one on one effort. The score could have been a lot worse for Brentford.

Preston did add to their tally when Horgan was played through. He sprinted from the halfway line to latch onto the ball beating his man and then the keeper.

Brentford did redcue the arrears when Colin shot from range with a minute remaining. Huntington deflected the ball cruelly upwards as Mazwell was diving. The ball flew into the net off the bar.

North End remain in eleventh place but the games now come thick and fast with Birmingham at home on Tuesday before a short trip to Wigan at the weekend. If Preston can pick up two more wins then in may change the complexion of the season heading towards the run in.
