It is no secret that North End want to secure the services of the Irish winger whilst Everton have implied that he is no longer required on Merseyside.
McGeady was on a season long loan from Everton with the Toffees contributing the majority if the reported £42,000 a week wage. Preston do want to make a deal permanent but McGeady would have to fall within the wage structure at Deepdale.
Online reports suggest that a deal could be done for around £2 million which would be Preston's record transfer deal. It may well be that negotiations centre around paying off the remainder of McGeady's Everton contract plus some form of signing on fee to compensate in any drop in weekly wages which would be significant.
