Millwall had a look at Carter earlier in pre-season over a week long trial where the midfielder turned out twice for the Lions. It was thought that a year long loan would be agreed with Carter then free at the end of the season to do as he wished with his Deepdale contract coming to an end.
Nothing ever materialised and it was thought that Kenny Jackett was no longer interested. Carter then went to Southampton for a trial where he played in a friendly and boss Alan Pardew was keen to sign him up.
As the roundabout kept swinging round Carter was an obvious absentee from last night's reserve game against Northwich Victoria and it now seems that he has agreed terms with Millwall for a three month loan deal.
