Cardiff were always going to be a difficult propostion after a recent resurgence in form but Preston were clearly the better side throughout the ninety minutes.
North End had numerous chances but couldn't convert. Maguire was probably the biggest culprit having several opportunities which were squandered. The one position Preston have struggled with is that of a proven goalscorer.
At the other end Preston were solid and limited the home side in terms of chances. It meant that the game ended goalless with Preston picking up a point and slipping back a place in the table behind Fulham.
Preston now travel to Leeds on Boxing Day before a couple of home games to complete the festive period.
