North End were defensively poor as they shipped in four again local rivals Blackpool. That only told half the story as Preston were well in the game and on top for most parts.
Sloppy defending allowed Blackpool three goals where they were unchallenged whilst the final goal was at the death with Preston trying to claw a late equaliser. North End did notch two and were well in the game for parts but were unable to come out on top.
The game was one to forget and North End finished the month at home to struggling Middlesbrough. The visitors took the lead. This was again after some poor defending at a set piece allowing Akpom to nod home.
It is concerning that the defence which was so solid earlier in the season is now conceding avoidable goals at ease. This needs to be rectified given the difficulites Preston have in scoring.
Fortunately Riis banged in a thrashing shot to level up the scores and some equally poor defending at the death from the visitors allowed Storey to nod home a late winner in acres of space.
The win was unconvincing against a team which had just appointed a new manager and were struggling in the league. Preston appear to be stumbling through the league at present.
There is a lack of attacking intent and the team have generally become a little sloppy compared with the high standards earlier in the season. With no new personnel due until January, and even then recruitment will be limited, Lowe will have to try to maximise what he has at his disposal if Preston are to make anything of this season.
