Coventry have an abysmal record at Deepdale but Preston are on a distinctly average run of form with the manager coming under pressure due to recent results.
The first half was entertaining with both sides having chances. Iversen was forced into several saves but Preston did have opportunities with Earl looking to make in roads down the left.
Just before the break the game changed when Walker gave Coventry the lead. He was given so much time in the box that he stumbled, turned and still managed to get a shot past the keeper. The defending was poor.
The tide turned just after the hour mark. Whiteman put a superb ball into the box for Bauer to head home. The momentum changed and shortly after Browne went close before Riis managed to smash home on the angle.
Preston managed to hold on for a vital three points which provides them with some hope going into the derby game away at Blackpool this weekend.
