Sean St Ledger and Callum Davidson came in at the back whilst Brown started up fornt with Teacey in support. Paul Parry played out on the left whilst there was a recall for Coutts.
Preston started well putting pressure on the Derby goal but they could not find a way through. There was a renewed enthusiasm amongst players and fans alike but the Whites were unable to find a way through the Derby backline.
Lonergan kept Preston in the game at times with a number of saves which denied the visitors. DErby eventually took the lead when Porter was allowed to turn in the box and fire home from twelve yards out. He then doubled his tally after Derby maintained good possession ending in Peter's shot being deflected into the back of the net.
Preston kept going with Davidson hitting the post before the referee awarded a penalty for handball. Davidson converted the penalty and more drama ensued in stoppage time as Derby cleared a Preston shot off the line.
