Nolan fell out with Ferguson after being substituted in a match away at Swansea in February. He subsequently went out on loan to Sheffield Wednesday and was then placed ont he transfer list after the season ended.
It was thought that he would join old boss Irvine permanently at Hillsborough but instead he has today agreed terms to go out on loan to Scunthorpe until January when it is believed the Irish international will sign a permanent deal.
This allows more flexibility for Ferguson to draft in new blood as another member of the squad has left the wage bill. Nolan follows Collins, Mawene, Mellor, Wallace and Sedgewick out of the door.
