Reports and speculation is rife that the new striker is Sam Parkin from Ipswich Town, which we here at Preston North End Mad broke to you exclusively a couple of days ago.
It is believed that North End has made a cash offer for the player with Derby and Luton also interested.
Parkin is out of favour by new Ipswich Town manager Jim Magilton who is looking to try and loan former North End £5m man Jon Macken. Magilton believes he needs some more fire power to stop the slump that has hit the Portman Road club.
