The news does not come as a surprise - the only regret being that Nugent was sure to start in the first ever match at Wembley with the under 21's this Saturday. Instead he will be flying to Tel-Aviv most likely to sit on the bench with the possibility of starring next week away in Andorra.
If he plays he will be the first player outside of the top flight to play in a competitive England match since Steve Bull and the first Preston player since Tom Finney to wear the England shirt.
