The striker left Deepdale over a decade ago but has now put pen to paper on a new deal at Preston. The length of the contract has not been disclosed and the 34 year old will officially become a Preston player at the start of August.
Nugent left Preston to play in the Premier League. He has featured hevily in teams that have either been challenging at the top of the Championship or playing in the Premier League over the past decade.
He is set to join on a free transfer when his contract expires at Derby at the end of the month. Due to a knee injury he won't make the start of the season and is likely to feature in September at the earliest.
Neil was looking to add experience to the squad and he will hope Nugent can add this to the current squad.
