Grayson took charge for the first time in this new era but refreshingly he kept the same starting line up from the previous week when Dreyer took temporary charge.
Swindon started the brighter and enjoyed the better possession but they could not break through the Whites and when they did Rudd was capable of stopping the chances that came his way.
Preston grew into the game after twenty minuites or so having bright spells of possession and looking dangerous out wide. The story of the afternoon was that Preston had several decent balls int he box but no one on the end to slot home.
North End took the lead early int he second half from a wide area. The ball was played in from Beavon and King nodded down. Hayhurst took a touch before blasting home from close range.
Swindon were allowed back into the game due to a defensive error. A long ball was played over the top with the frontman clearly offside. Wright left the ball but Buchanan tried to clear but he ended up miscuing and laying the ball into the path of Rooney who ran clean through to score.
The home side pressed for a winner but they were restricted to long shots and corners. Preston were deserving of their point but would have been disappointed not to hang on for all three.
The mood seems to have changed with the strong following contingent cheering on a more positive and believeing team who looked to play the ball on the deck. It can only bode well for the remainder of the season.
