Preston go into the match knowing that with two home games on the bounce they have a chance of taking the lead outright with rivals Birmingham and Cardiff facing two away games.
Simpson knows that Crystal Palace will be a tough outfit to crack led by experienced manager Peter Taylor. Palace finished last season in the play offs but a change of manager over the summer seems to have had the opposite effect to that of at Deepdale.
Preston should beware though and will be made to work for the points. It looks as if Patrick Agyemang will miss the game through injury so Dichio or Ormerod will be expected to play alongside Nugent. The rest of the side should remain the same with Davidson expected to join the squad for Tuesday's clash with Coventry.
Preston will be glad to be back and hope for a more fluid performances than the two battles they have faced on the road at Southen and Leicester respectively. the league table is starting to take shape and Simpson knows now is the time to get points on the board.
