North End Directors have insisted they are putting plans of the new Pavilion stand on hold, claiming all the money they have is going to be put into the football.
The last side of the ground to be completed, the 5 million pound Pavilion Stand, is set to be put on hold, fearing it will bankrupt the club.
Director Derek Shaw said at the AGM: “We would love to finish it off, but we are not prepared to go into debt we need to do it.
“We could probably go and borrow a lot of money from the bank. But I don’t want to be sat here in 18 months time saying we have 8 million worth of debt.”
Plans for the new stand looked rosy until the collapse of ITV digital, which made PNE lose approximately 4 million pounds.
Shaw claims it will definitely go ahead if the Premiership target comes true. He said: “If we get Premiership football we will certainly do it. And who knows? We might be talking six months if we could get ourselves promoted.”
