Westley has continually made changes in his time in charge at Preston and some fans think this may be the difference between some excellent home performances combined with some abject away days.
Oldham were there for the taking after having a poor start to the season and Preston were on a high after winning the last two scoring three in each. North End looked nothing like a confident winning side.
For the record King was retained at right back despite Keane being available after suspension. Wright, Sherrif and Laird made up the back line. Amoo and Buchanan played out wide with Mousinho and Byrom in midfield. Beardsley partnered Beavon up front.
The first half an hour was very tame. The Whites rarely attacked but Stuckmann was never troubled as Oldham did not really threaten the visitors.
The game changed when King committed a foul on the edge of the box to the left. Baxter who has spent time at Everton showed his class by curling in the free kick although Stuckmann managed to get a hand to it but could not prevent a goal.
Preston showed no creativity and it was hoped a half time team talk might shake a poor Preston into life. In the second half a disappointing Amoo was replaced by Monakana but soon the game was put to bed.
The Whites were having a rare foray into the visiting half when they lost the ball and were hit on the break. Oldham found themselves clean through and a crisp strike beat the Preston keeper. It was the first real chance from open play.
Sodje came on along with Wroe who played out left but Preston were dysfunctional and looked like they Crete having trouble putting two passes together throughout the game.
People thought it was not going to get worst but Byrom who was poor all game laboured on the ball as the last man and got dispossessed like a school kid allowing the home side to score their third.
Sherrif was then dismissed for a trip which carried with it his second yellow card and the visiting fans were more than frustrated with a very abject performance from the visitors.
Sodje latched on to some poor defending to score a consolution in injury time but to be honest it was not merited in what was an all round poor performance with a lack of determination from Preston.
