Former loan player Dave Jones was always set to leave Pride Park but his destination was unknown. Sources in the East Midlands said that both Wolves and Preston were interested although the Whites never put in a formal bid nor held talks with the midfielder.
After initially stalling over the contract, Jones managed to agree personal terms and moves to Molineux for a £1 million pounds fee.
Another player preston were said to be interested in was youngster, Anderson from Liverpool on a loan deal. The wideman had been loaned out by the Reds and was set to spend this season in the Championship on a season long loan. Irvine was looking to strengthen the squad in the wide positions and Anderson was thought to offer a possible solution but he will now be heading to Championship new boys Nottingham Forest.
