The Whites came out on the front foot in this game after scoring six in midweek. Reading played on the break but always looked dangerous and either side could have taken the lead.
As it was Preston opened the scoring. PLaying in a 4-4-2 formation, Hume started up front with Coutts on the right. It was the on loan man who chased a ball down the right to square into the box. Parkin couldn't get on the end of it but Treacy managed to tap home.
The game became open although the returning Brown was a steadying influence at the back for Preston. However, no one could prevent the Reading goal. Early in the second half a corner was cleared to the edge of the box only for Karacan to smash home a volley - Lonergan had no chance.
Soon after the referee who was having a poor afternoon according to both sets of supporters then sent Russell off for a second yellow despite the midfielder appearing to win the ball.
Preston survived over half an hour with ten men to claim a point and now leaves them heading into the international break on a three game unbeaten run.
