After returning from their training camp in Spain North End notched up a single goal victory away to Accrington Stanley before they dispatched Hearts at Deepdale.
Ben Woodburn scored from inside the box before Haring slotted home from the spot for the visitors. Browne gave Preston the lead which they held onto until full time.
The final act was at home to Leicester. The Premier League side were on top for much of the first half and took a two goal lead into the break thanks to goals from Vardy and Barnes before McCann pulled one back after the break.
The second half performance was much improved after a change of personnel with Storey replacing Diaby and Evans laying up front alongside Riis.
Preston now travel to Wigan for the first game of the league campaign.
