Both Birmingham and Preston had little to play for on Tuesday evening as the home team were well out of the play off picture despite always being in and around the top six whilst some had criticised Preston's players for being on their holidays several weeks ago.
Beckford went back to the bench which was no surprise given Preston face three games in less than seven days this week. Doyle partnered Garner up front but it was at the back where Preston were tested.
Donaldson scored a double with one in either half to give Birmingham a two goal lead. The first was a shot that Lindegaard parried for the frontman to tuck in. The keeper was replaced at half time due to injury and some are now concerned over the lack of recent clean sheets.
Kirkalnd replaced the injured Lindegaard at half time only to be beaten by Donaldson. Grayson's thoughts seemed to suggest Preston could have done better with both goals.
Perhaps if this game had been earlier in the season things may have been different but Preston staged a comeback pushing forwards. Clarke crossed and Alan Browne converted to halve the deficit.
North End then equalised in the last minute. Cunningham tried an overhead kick inside the box which hit the post. It fell to Wright who headed against the post. The ball bounced around before coming back to Cunningham to smash home.
The point means that Preston stay in tenth just behind Birmingham. North End just have three games to play with Burnely at home this friday who are now in a fight for automatic promotion.
