Alex Neil reverted to his first eleven. The only change from the opening game against Sheffield Wednesday was Hugill replacing Maguire up front. The partnership of Spurr and Huntington remained at the back keeping a second clean sheet.
Preston were the better team for large parts of the game and were disappointed not to come away with all three points. It was only after Preston were reduced to ten men with half an hour left that the home side started piling forward.
Bowne had two chances to score from close range either side of the half. The first effort was blocked and he should have done better with both shots which would have given Preston a deserved lead.
Preston had a goal chalked off in the second half. The linesman flagged for offside as the finish clipped the woodwork. It was unclear if the ball had actually crossed the line.
The visitors were containing Leeds until Pearson was sent off for a second yellow card with around thirty minutes remaining. He was booked early on in the game for a tackle where he did win the all but also took the man.
Pearson's second yellow was just sheer stupidity pulling back him man leaving the referee with no option. Preston went into a cotained narrow shape as Leeds started to threaten.
Maxwell denied Wood in a one on on situation making a good save and moments later was tipping over the bar. The home side sensed an opportunity but could not convert.
Late on Johnson came close with the ball rolling agonisingly wide before Harrop's defelcted shot hit the bar in stoppage time. Preston will take a point from an impressive performance on a notoriously difficult ground for the visitors.
