The season is now a third in with Preston having played a variety of teams but Rotherham were probably the poorest opponents along with Cardiff who are now under new management.
Grayson made one change to his side with Ben Pearson suspended. McGeady recovered from injury so replaced Pearson with Gallgher moving into a central role. Against a stronger side Gallagher may have struggled with his defensive duties but Rotherham caused no such problems.
The game was up by the time the half time whistle blew. The first was a simple goal which showed the defensive weakness of the hosts. Pringle whipped in a ball from the left where hughill rose to head home.
Shortly after Preston went two up. McGeady was the most impressive player on the pitch tormenting the Rotherham back line. He managed to turn his man on the right before looking up and placing a perfect ball on the head of Robinson who was free to nod home.
Preston could and probably should have scored more with the hosts showing why they were cast adrift at the bottom. Rotherham did score when Wood nodded in a curling free kick. It coul dhave caused an interesting last fiftenn minutes but Preston soon responded.
Vermijl who was on as a substitute managed to get on the end of a drilled cross to score Preston's third and confirm the three points. The win meant Preston are nine points clear of the bottom three.
