Keih Treacy came back after suspension with Paul Coutts shifted out to the right wing and Wayne Brown coming in at the back for the hapless Craig Morgan.
Preston started the game well and took the lead inside the first quarter of an hour as a ball played into the box found Jon Parkin who swivelled and finish well from around 14 yards for his 100th career goal.
Palace then came back into the came despite Preston seemingly to be on top. Garvan hammered home from outside the box for a tremedous finish which gave Lonergan no chance at all.
The home side then reasserted thier autority and it was Jon Parkin again who was on target. THis time the big man chested down and hammered home a shot from just outside the egde of the box.
Before the break, Preston increased their lead with a quick free kick. Treacy then fired a shot home from the best part of thirty yards in what was turning out to be a goal fest at Deepdale with some stunning shooting.
After the break Preston went even further ahead with Coutts being tripped in the box. Parkin wanted to take the spot kick for the hat trick but it was Davidson who put the Whites 4-1 up.
There was still time left for Palace to cause Preston prblems. Dorman headed a cross home in off the post to reduce the defecit before Vaugham converted a penalty after Russell had fouled in the box.
North End held on for al three points in an entertaining game but Preston will be concerned that they are continuing to ship goals at an alarming rate.
