The game was packed with a number of incidents including two penalties and a raving Owen Coyle on the touchline. Preston were without the banned Beckford and Doyle so Hughill played up front with Makienok and Robinson in support.

Before the game some may have feared for Preston's attacking intent with both McGeady and Gallagher out injured along with the suspecsion of the two strikers. This fear didn't last long when Daniel Johnson found his scoring boots with a left foot curler from the edge of the box.

Johnson has been fairly quiet this season compared to last but he came into the spotlight in front of the television cameras on Saturday evening putting in a man of th ematch performance.

Blackburn were back in the game when they were awarded a penalty. Maxwell saved and then parried the rebound but several attempts later Graham managed to convert from close range to equalise.

North End then re-took the lead before half time. A cross was floated towards Makienok. The referee blew for a penalty although at first it was unclear why to many in the ground but there was handball from a defending player.

Johnson took and scored the penalty which gave Preston the lead going into half time. Coyle was less than impressed with the refereeing showing his frustration on the touchline.

Blackburn came more into the game in the second half and found an equaliser with Graham again scoring. It appeared that the game was heading for a draw until late on.

The move of the game saw Cunningham urn inside his man on the left flank before passing across the box to Robinson who steadied himself before shooting into the corner.

Preston held out for the victory and after Tuesday night's results still sit in mid-table with a visit to Forest ahead on Wednesday night.
