Phil Brown was looking ahead to next season as he sent out a youthful looking side to face Watford. Leather and Devine started in defence whilst Middleton and Proctor came off the bench.
Watford took the lead as they carved Preston open for a simple tap in early on. It looked like a familiar story and that Preston would end up being defeated but they rallied.
The Whites soon equalised with a touch of fortune that has been lacking for the rest of the season. Nicholson playing out wide had a long shot deflected and as the keeper went one way his outstretched arm could not prevent te shot from going in.
Preston took the upper hand as Treacy hit the post moments later and then in the second half he smashed the bar. A free kick given to Preston was curled in by Hume to give Preston the lead before youngster Proctor replaced him.
The game became more open with Watford denied on a couple of occassions but young Proctor manage to squeeze home his first goal for the first team.
Phil Brown addressed the crown after the game and was hopeful of a positive return next term if he can get the right men in for the start of pre-season.
