Grayson brought back Andy Little to Browne, Kilkenny was left out for King and Liard replaced Davies at left back. It certainly gave an attacking look to the side but they flattered to deceive and rarely got going.
Preston started well and got an early goal as Jack King smashed home from inside the box but thereafter Preston did little to impress. They did miss Kilkenny and his ability to pass the ball but that is no detriment on Jack King.
Oldham had a number of chances including more than one free header in the box. Poor finishing and a couple of decent saves from Jones who probably had his best day so far at Preston meant Oldham were denied at least a point.
The visitors had a lot of the ball and Preston in an attacking line up just could not adjust in midfield and were cut open a number of times. A better side would have come away from Deepdale with all three point but thankfully Preston hung on for the win.
