Preston started with Clarke, Huntington and Wright at the back with Woods on the left. Humphrey wa son the right and at times it appeared to be a back five.
In fairness Preston had a lot of the ball and played some good football but the problem so far this season has been penetration. They have scored two league goals with both being on the break against MK Dons and Ipswich.
Hull were quite content for Pretson to play. The step up showed as Humphrey was ineffective down the right and the midfield were ineffective in supporting Garner up front on his own.
North End were strong in defence and restricted the home side to relatively few chances. The goal before half time was fortunate. Pickford had an off afternoon but was not to blame for the goal.
A corner wasn't cleared and as the ball was bouncing around the box a clearance hit Hernandez flying into the back of the net to leave Pickford no chance.
Preston serached for an equaliser with the best chance coming int he second half when substitute Browne had a free ehader but could only place it over the bar.
Hull then sealed the victory late on when Davies was left free at a corner to smash home the second and the victory for Hull. Pretson now go into the international break with 5 points from their first 5 games.
