North End continued their recent run of improved form when they picked up an away point at Bramall Lane in what has always been a tough fixture for Preston.
It was an entertaining game especially in the second half with both sides having chances to score but in the end the game ended up all sqaure with both sides scoring two each.
The home team took the lead within the first ten minutes in what was their first meaningful attack of the game. Some lacklustre marking meant Gibbs-White was left in acres of space in the box where he easily converted from a cross.
Preston came back into the game around ten minutes later. A through ball was chased by Johnson. The United keeper came rushing out and instead of committing to a tackle he allowed Johnson to round him and pass the ball into an empty net.
The second half was at times end to end. Both teams had chances. Riis missed one opportunity and immediately after the home side went up the other end and Berge scored. It came in the last ten minutes and looked like a winner.
Five minutes of time were added when Preston pumped a free kick in the box and Riis who had missed an earlier chance managed to smash home in injury time to earn Preston a point.
North End have now taken points from their last two away games. They will face another tough test at Deepdale this Saturday against West Brom but will head into the game with some confidence after recent results.
