Speculation has grown over recent weeks with a reported bid for Emil Riis received combined with last season's top goalscore spending much of this season on the bench.
It is believed that a bid of £7.5m was made for the striker from Middlesborough but this did not meet Preston's valuation for the player so there was no sale agreement.
Lowe was set to talk to Riis on Monday and presumably following those discussions and the approaching transfer deadline it is now clear that Preston want to keep their Danish striker.
