After Chris Maxwell was allowed to join Charlton on loan it was clear that Alex Neil would make a move to bring another goalkeeper into the club given the problems this season.
Connor Ripley had been on loan at Accrington for the first half of the season but Preston ahve agreed a deal with Middlesbrough to bring the goalkeeper to the club permanently.
Ripley will be the main competition for Rudd who has made mistakes this season. It is unclear if Ripley will be given a starting role this Saturday against Swansea.
