Rumours had started long before the end of the season that Robinson would depart Deepdale this summer. The forward is now entering the last year of his contract with no new deal in sight so it was summised that Preston would cash in on their leading goalscorer.
It seems apparent that Neil has been promised some funds this year in order to tie the manager down to a new deal after speculation over his departure in April.
Preston rarely have a significant injection of cash to spend on players and typically any funds would come from player sales so the obvious option would be to sell Robinson and reinvest in the squad.
As with most recent sales the price would have to be right. Robinson had been linked with a move to Bournemouth although the press are reporting it is not the south coast club who have made an enquiry.
The story is likely to unfold over the next few weeks as Robinson returns from international duty and also any well earned rest.
