Dave Jones who played half a season for Preston under Billy Davies has been told that he can leave Derby County after Paul Jewell wants to build his won squad.
Jones excelled as a left footed midfielder at Preston, on loan from Manchester United. The youngster then followed Billy Davies to Derby but was injured throughout the Premiership campaign and hardly featured for the Rams.
Local press in the Derby area believe that the Rams would accept an offer of around £1 million for the midfielder with both Wolves and Preston interested.
If Jones does sign then it may see the exit of another midfield man as the area would become slightly overcrowded with Mckenna, Chaplow, Carter and Nicholls all fighting for a slot in the middle of the park at present.
