Simpson was particularly upset that less than 14,000 fans turned up on Easter Monday with Preston sitting in a top six position. He expected more backing for a team that has been high in the league all season.
The truth is Monday's attendance was average for the season and Preston's poor form hardly wooed people from their armchairs to go and watch what of late has been a poor side.
Simpson has total respect for the people who come on week in week out but has pleaded with them to get behind the side and not to have a go at the players, management or directors over the last few games. Trouble is by the time the last match at Deepdale comes around against Birmingham the fans may have little option but to show their feelings if Preston slip out of the play offs and carry on with this winnless run.
