Trips to Gillingham have been menorable for all the wrong reasons in the past but Preston managed to battle through the elements and some setbacks to take all three points.

Paul Huntington scored the only goal of the game as he was given his first start of the season with Tom Clarke ruled out with a virus. The game was open with both sides attacking and Preston hitting the woodwork four times.

North End move up to third only a point behind second placed Peterborough with two games in hand. Bristol City still lead the way.
