With club captain Callum Davidson ruled out with a head injury, Irish international Sean St Ledger took up the captains armband for the win over Ipswich on Saturday.
Amidst his delight of a double transfer swoop, gaffer Darren Ferguson told the Preston North End official site of his delight that that North End's prized asset was still at the club, despite several reported bids from Celtic.
"Sean St. Ledger is the one, as a Club we stuck to our guns, the Chairman stuck to his guns and I was adamant that we didn't want to lose him.
"He's one of the best defenders in the league, he's been great in training and in games, I gave him the captain's armband on Saturday and he will have it again on Tuesday night."
