A long away trip on a Tuesday night is never a favourable option. Cardiff has not been Preston's favourite hunting ground either at the Millennium Stadium, Ninian Park or the much newer Cardiff City Stadium.
Browning went straight into the first eleevn as expected at right back with Horgan given a start as well. The game was efefctively over before the 30 minute mark
Preston started slowly and this is a recurring theme. Burton at home, Villa away, Ipswich at home to name just thre games where Preston have been playing catch up. Add Cardiff to the list.
Hoillet was brought down in the box and Whittingham converted the penalty. Soon after the lead was doubled when Zohere was given free reign to convert.
North End came back into the game but failed to score. It is clear that Preston cannot rely on simply playing for forty five minutes against decent Championship sides.
Cardiff may well be misplaced after having a poor start to the season but if Preston had any ambition to lever themselves towards the play offs then this is a game where at leats a point was needed.
North End are too incosistent. They may have only lost 4 in 20 but a poor start to the season and many draws within that 20 games has meant a stable midtable position.
Preston now travel to Barnsley who are doing well this season and it will be interesting to see how the team reacts against an attacking side who have surprised many this season.
