Stockley is another Alex Neil signing who has now moved on from the club. After spending part of last season on loan at Charlton he has now agreed to join the south London club permanently.
Signed in a January transfer window from Exeter he never fitted into Neil's lone frontman system. No doubt he is a talent and can score goals but this was seen sporadically at Deepdale.
His best games came when he had a partner up front. He changed the game at home to Blackburn when he came on as a substitute with Preston two goals down.
He is a proven goalscorer at lower league level and perhaps played in the right system he can be prolific at higher levels but Neil either failed to realise this or was too stubborn to accommodate what he had.
It will be interesting to see how the mild mannered forward does at Charlton but no doubt we will see him banging in the goals.
