It was almost inevitable that with the short term signing of Ched Evans that Jayden Stockley would be moving on in the immediate future. It is unclear at this stage whether Stockley has a long term role at Preston.
The forward was signed a couple of years ago. On paper it looked like a good signing but a gamble given all of his goals had come at a lower level. It did fit the Preston mould of signing players from the lower leagues.
Stockley added a different dimension with his aerial ability but he was often overlooked by Neil for Maguire in the sole striking role which was surprising given North End often needed a strong aerial presence.
He has not really blossomed at Preston save for the odd occasion. His wonderful volley earlier this season and a strong performance from the bench against Blackburn last season which turned the game are some of the rare moments where he has really impressed.
Hopefully Stockley will be given the much needed game time at Charlton to get some consistency and he may then start to find the back of the net more often.
