North End went into the break after a poor result against Sheffield United but that only told half of the story. Preston dominated the game for forty minutes but failed to turn their possession into goals.
There were numerous opportunities but as befits Preston this season they were not clinical enough and wasted any chances that came their way. It was groundhog day once again as Preston fired blanks.
The visitors showed why they were top of the league and they capitalised on two Preston mistakes to take all three points. Ndiaye punced on a defensive error to give the visitors the lead against the run of play before the break.
The game was put out of reach in the second period. Woodman fired a ball out to Hughes who was immediately under pressure and he lost the ball. McBurnie then finished off the chance.
Preston never looked like getting back into the game. It is concerning times for Preston as the lack of goals is clearly costing North End and if this continues they could well struggle.
It is clear that the defence will overcome their errors but the main issue is at the other end of the pitch and all eyes will be on the strikers as we head into a busy month of football before the World Cup break.
