January has not been dull for Preston. Injuries to front players meant hastily arranged loans for Tom Cannon and Liam Delap. This was swiftly followed by a heavy defeat at home to Norwich.
The four goal defeat was not received well as Preston were three down before thirty minutes and the performance could be described as probably the worst in Ryan Lowe's tenure.
The Norwich game was then proceeded by allegation and counter allegation between the club and fans over the potential sale of Ben Whiteman. The latest is that Fulham now lead the chase and a fee of around £5m could see the deal across the line.
Preston then managed to pick up three points away at Birmingham thanks to two early goals from Ledson and Browne. The hosts never really looked like threatening until they pulled one back late on.
North End's away form has been good all season and the result was no surprise against a poor Birmingham side. It is Preston's home form which is letting them down and preventing them from moutning a run for the top six.
There is now a break from the league as Preston face Tottenham in the FA Cup this Saturday live on BBC.
